Dr. Margaret Bowman

Dr. Margaret Bowman was raised in Southwest Louisiana on a small livestock farm, where her passion for animals and agriculture took root. An active member of 4-H, she competed at local, state, and national levels with her club lambs and developed a strong foundation in animal care and leadership. She began her academic journey at Connors State College as a livestock judge and was later recruited to the University of Arkansas. There, she earned both her Bachelor of Science in Animal Science (2004) and Master of Science in Animal Nutrition (2006). Before pursuing veterinary medicine, Dr. Bowman gained valuable experience working as a laboratory assistant in cancer research at Arkansas Children’s Hospital and later served as a program associate in cotton production with the University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service. Outside the clinic, Dr. Bowman enjoys spending quality time with her husband and their pets. She is passionate about wellness and healthy living, recently becoming an avid outdoor runner training for her first half marathon. She also enjoys a round of golf—proudly calling herself a “mediocre beginner.”
In 2012, Dr. Bowman earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine. She briefly practiced in Pea Ridge, Arkansas before purchasing Taylor-Oldfield Veterinary Clinic in Ponca City, Oklahoma in 2013. Soon after, she met her husband, Brian Lebeda, and renamed the clinic Pioneer Veterinary Clinic, inspired by the historic Pioneer Woman statue and the spirit of the local community. In 2020, the clinic underwent a major renovation, reflecting its growth and commitment to excellence. Dr. Bowman is a proud member of several professional organizations, including AVMA, AAHA, AAFP, AHVMA, and IAHAIO. She is also an Elite Fear Free Certified Professional and a Cat Friendly Veterinarian. Formerly a mixed animal practitioner, Dr. Bowman now focuses exclusively on small animals, with occasional care for exotic pets. She has a strong interest in soft-tissue surgery, complex medical cases, and integrative medicine rooted in whole-health and One Health medicine. Above all, she is committed to creating a positive, compassionate experience for her patients, clients, and staff.
